I'm in lots of pain physically (I maybe did a little too much in order to go see my sweet girl a lot) and emotionally preparing to leave the hospital this week so posting might be a little light. I wanted to share her first photos with you, I'm so honored to introduce you to our daughter.

And on a lighthearted note, because this mommy needs some laughter in her days, they brought me my breast feeding pads today.
I have to say that I wasn't so comforted when I saw the bag they brought them in. Apparently, none of the nurses looked at the bag before they brought them in. Because when you have to press cotton against your lady lumps, you totally want the kind that are emblazoned with the words BIOHAZARD. Hee!
Baby Scarlette had another stable day and we're off to visit her again. We love you all so very much.

Oh, sweet girl, I think she’s the most beautiful baby in the world. We are praying, praying, praying for all three of you. She is so blessed to have you all as her parents, and I’ve just been giddy with excitement since you first announced she was on her way months ago. My heart breaks for you guys that she has to spend her first days on earth away from you, but I’m claiming in Jesus’ name that very soon, she will be big and strong and home with you guys. As someone who watched my best friend go through the same situation 4 years ago I know the next months will be a challenge. However, a challenge that is worth every minute. I am new to your blog… sent here by a friend. I just read your last several posts and have been crying all the way through, mostly because it takes me right back to where we were 3 years ago when our sweet Charlotte was born at 28 weeks. Similar story, my membranes ruptured spontaneously at 28 weeks, I went on complete hospital bed rest for 3 days (to get the steriod shots for her lungs) and then she was born via emergency cesarean 2 days later.
We spent 49 days total in the NICU. It is a pain and ache that only another NICU mom can feel. I have even read articles on how NICU parents suffer from post traumatic stress disorder. It is a hellish experience and full of many good days and then miserable days. In the end, you would do it all over again to have your baby girl. And in 3 years, you will be amazed at how far you all have come and how normal life is.
If you EVER want to talk or need another NICU mommy to listen and cry with you, please do not even hesitate to contact me. I see it as a ministry of sorts to walk with other mommies through the nightmare of the NICU.
