The crockpot we received as a wedding gift went kaput on me a few months ago and I was all “not the crockpot! NOT THE CROCKPOT!”
Because I can’t cook.
And a new crockpot was not in the budget.
So I saved up all my swagbucks and then I used them to buy myself a shiny new crockpot.
This story started off so nicely.
Then I used my new crockpot.
This is a photo of it after I used it for the first time.
I know you’re wondering why I took a picture of my crockpot.
It’s because my husband called me in the kitchen and said “Honey, please come look at the crockpot and tell me if you notice anything, you know, strange about it.”
I didn’t.
Apparently, you’re supposed to remove the cardboard insert prior to using your new crockpot for EIGHT HOURS.
What’s worse is that I removed the actual crockpot, washed it and placed it back OVER THE CARDBOARD without ever noticing it.
And that I was all “why did my fancy new crockpot not cook my food all the way?”
It’s a miracle that I’ve yet to burn our house down.

Reminds me of the time we got a new stove and I cooked my first meal in it and didn’t realize that there were packing materials in the oven! We had to use a fire extinguisher on it!
You are hilarious! We’ve all done something like this, and if there’s a woman out there that denies it? She’s lying.
Glad your story had a happy ending. As if you need something else on your plate right now… you know, like your house burning down…
Scarlette is so adorable and I love seeing how much she is growing. I’m so glad she’s doing well with eating – here’s to hoping it means more sleep for all of you!
so.freakin’.awesome.
That’s sad and awesome at the same time. Did it ruin the crock pot?
thanks for the giggle, what a great way to end my day!!!
OH MY -LANTA!!! How funny! ha,ha,ha…..great little ditty for the afternoon. oh, and why is it that it’s always our husbands that bring this to our attention. About a year ago, I was touting about what a good driver I was because I hadn’t gotten a ticket in 20 years and had no accidents…well, shortly there after my husband announced that he was going after a new garage door because I had just backed the new pick up into it and never even noticed. Do you know what garage doors cost now??? ha,ha,ha…!
