I debated and debated and debated about doing Project Life for 2012. Then, after all that debating, I added it to my cart on Amazon on a whim when I was using up my Christmas gift cards. I’m very practical and not at all impulsive. Here is what week one looks like for me:

(you can view the pages larger here and here)
First of all, yes you are seeing that correctly. That is my sweet, darling baby girl flipping off the camera. That photo cracks me up. I was just clicking away when she moved and I thought to myself “Self, surely I did not just see her do what I think I saw her do.” I scrolled back through the photos and laughed so hard that Lucy Dog ran and hid from me. It’s not just that she happens to have her middle finger in the air, it’s the expression on her face as though she meant to do it. Like she’s all “You want another picture? I’ll give you another picture!”
In case you are wondering Project Life is a system to scrapbook each week of your life for an entire year and I think it is the perfect format for me right now. It allows me to capture our week and expend my creative energy but not have to spend so much time conceptualizing the pages. I was mostly drawn to the idea because this page from 2008 has always been one of my favorites. I want to get back to putting “scraps” into my scrapbooking now that I’m rarely creating pages for publication.
And since it’s the time of year for resolutions, I’ve resolved not to purchase any new supplies to use in this scapbook for the entire year. I plan on documenting all of 2012 using just the Project Life kit and stuff I already own. That’s why if you were like “Wait, are those Heidi Swapp Photo Corners circa 2003?” then to you I say why yes, yes they are. And that yes, I am a hoarder and I do fully expect to end up on TLC sleeping on piles of patterned paper. And also you have a really good eye.
Are you doing Project Life? Link me up in the comments, I want to see everyone else’s pages! I just noticed my friend Jess is doing Project Life Tuesday at The Mom Creative again this year, there is a ton of inspiration linked up on her blog!

I wasn’t having the greatest day…then saw on facebook you had done a new post….saw the picture of S and couldn’t quit laughing. Totally turned my day around KA, thanks
I really like your pages. and that photo series cracks me up.
Here is my cover page and the reason why I started Project Life. http://eitsart.blogspot.com/2012/01/project-life.html
hahaha I think that is the funniest picture, and I just know that Scarlette will giggle over it too one day. Maybe keep it hidden until her wedding day or something equally as huge and just casually pop it out
I am not doing project life, but I am really jealous that you are! Maybe next year if I can get it together enough to actually do something so amazing!
a – that photo? PRICELESS
b – I, too, am doing Project Life for much the same reason that everyone else is – b/c it’s a welcome relief from ‘designing’ layouts for so long. I, too, will be using my supply stash (okay, except for those 2…maybe 3…web orders that I recently placed. Kickstart!). I recently used some Fontwerks rub-ons on a OLW title page & people were commenting about “great journaling” – uhm, not mine, and uhm, they probably don’t even know that a Fontwerks existed.
I am not doing this, but kinda wish I would bc I keep seeing everyone pages and ideas….so maybe I will do something of the sort??? But what I really wanted to set you straight on was….collecting, keeping, organizing scrap book stuff is not a form of hoarding. Don’t say things like that or all of our husbands will think it is odd to keep EVERYTHING. And trust me, we all need ALL our stuff. One day we will NEED it for something and will be quite pleased with ourselves that we used something old on a new project. lol
Can’t wait to see you’re weekly pages! Thanks for sharing!
Sheila
I’m doing PL2012 but I’m waiting for my “stuff” to be delivered. The funny thing is I bought the digital “stuff” last year so I could go digital this year, but didn’t learn Photoshop Elements over Xmas like I planned so I ordered the “goods” and am waiting for delivery… Will catch up over the weekend, and while I usually don’t manage to post my pages, I’ll try to remember to do so and will link back to you if I do…
LOVE that picture of Scarlette!
I love that you are using stuff you have already. I’m trying (desperately) to do the same. I actually have two old PL kits that went untouched. Cause the first one wasn’t enough, apparently. I have such a problem that I even considered buying a third. So yeah, I understand the problem. Can’t wait to see more pages!
First of all she is adorable even when flipping you off! LOL!
Also- I am SO buried under scrapbook supplies (I haven’t scrapbooked in over two years) that I have contemplated opening my art room window and throwing it all into my backyard. So Yay! for you to working on this with out new supplies and if you do run out of any 2003-2010 supplies I’m your girl!
girl, those are some GREAT opening pages! I am waiting for my kit to arrive! I’m probably going to do it more each page covers a month LOL. But that’s what’s great about scrapbooks, you can use the materials any way you want!

This looks like a fun/less time-consuming way to scrapbook.
I cannot tell you how much I NEEDED to laugh today. That pix of Scarlette and your description did just the trick. She can definitely “speak” with her facial expressions, can’t she. Now you throw in *signing* and she’s unstoppable! Thanks again for the laugh. Turning point of my day.
Love your week one it’s perfect!! I finished my week one layout and I can’t wait to share it tomorrow! I have been so excited about it, but I am such a dork haha! Scarlette is a doll and I love reading your posts everyday.
Love the Starbucks rectangle…
Yep, I’m getting Project Life now! I’m such a picture hoarder and don’t have time to scrapbook right now…plus, the kids destroy everything that I get out! This looks so simple and cute! Thanks for the link and heads up. This is great! Oh, Scarlette’s picture is priceless…LOVE those moments!
LOVE your pics!! of course, the one of your little girl holding up that finger is classic!! Love your style and your layouts!! I only have pics on my post cause the big variety pack of page protectors won’t be here till Feb.
I am keeping up on my journal cards and pic taking, so…I won’t be too behind!
Can’t wait to see more of your layouts!
Beautiful layouts! The picture of your daughter is just so funny and adorable. I just love how you layer everything and that little mini January calendar is just adorable!
yay! I love it! esp. the flippin’ you off photo ha ha!
she’s such a DOLL!
she will LOVE this book one day!
I am doing my own version of PL using a journal and an 8.5×11 DITTO binder book!
so excited! I was going to order one but just couldn’t justify it this year!!!!
have fun!
tara
There are SO many things I like about these layouts!!! OMG!
From the little photo corners to the black and white photo book looking pics … and the love w camera and of course the hilarious picture of your daughter … sooo many good ideas, can’t wait to see what you bring to the table next week!!!
hahaha how cute that she gave you the finger! Jack does that all the time now that he’s teething…he puts his hand on his cheek with his middle finger up! haha that must be how he feels about getting teeth
Your pages turned out so well. I love that last picture of Scarlette. Is it weird that I was thinking of her (and you) while colouring with Avinash today and I came upon the color scarlet. It was weirdly orange yet rich. Not what I expected Crayola, I always thought it was red?
Me too! I protest, Crayola!
I love, love, love you style! They are just like mini-LO’s!
thank you so much for the sweet words!
As soon as I saw your page, right away I liked those photo corners…then I had a little laugh when you mentioned how long they’ve been in your stash. I am like you a hoarder and have also told myself I can only use what I’ve already got on hand. Love your cutie pie kids and the look of your pages.
