When I was a little girl, my cousins and I would spend our days playing outdoors, anxiously awaiting the jingling melody that announced the arrival of the most important part of summer: the ice cream man. I have no idea what the ice cream man offered because, creature of habit that I am, I always got the same thing: a Nestlé® Drumstick® cone. Once, I fleetingly entertained the idea of a multicolored popsicle shaped like a rocket, but I didn’t go through with it. My dollar was reserved for a Drumstick.
Twenty-odd years later, I don’t wave down the ice cream man every day (although seriously, that jingle is like a siren’s call) but I do stock our freezer with Nestlé Drumstick cones as soon as it gets warm out. They are Jeff’s favorite ice cream snacks too, which is proof that we are soul mates. And it makes up for the fact that he likes to eat noodles with nothing but butter on them.

We live in Georgia, so our summers? They get hot. I mean, they call this place Hot-lanta for a reason, y’all. Which means slaving over a hot stove in the kitchen? No thank you. Summer here is lived out on the back deck, grilling burgers and having a drink with friends. I typically pass out Nestlé Drumstick cones for dessert and here is why:
A) Ice cream is a must-have on a hot summer day
B) They are self-contained little bundles of goodness (hello, delicious ice cream, chocolatey topping and nuts all in a handy little cone), so you don’t have any mess to clean up afterwards. Or dishes to wash.
C) People always exclaim, “Oh! I love Drumsticks!” and then I feel like a super awesome hostess. Someone invite me to the Junior League, y’all.
So when Nestlé asked if I would sample the new Feature Flavors (hello, CARAMEL GRAHAM CONES!) and host a giveaway for my readers, I said yes. Not just because I figured one of y’all would really love some Nestlé Drumstick cones AND one hundred dollars but because I knew it would score major points with my husband.
I stocked up on a bunch of new flavors to try, and the latest phrase to be overheard in our house is “Do you know what this needs? A DRUMSTICK.” Insert said phrase into all of our recent activities: Watching “American Idol”? Drumsticks. Renting “Breaking Dawn, Part One” with my mother? Drumsticks. Friends over for dinner? Drumsticks. Reward for planting our own vegetable garden? TWO DRUMSTICKS APIECE!
The best? Sitting on the back deck attempting to teach Scarlette how to properly use sidewalk chalk (and letting her sneak the occasional lick) while we debate which flavors we like the best. Jeff’s vote is for Vanilla Caramel Crunch and mine is for the Caramel Graham cones. I was a bit disappointed that my store wasn’t carrying the new Pretzel Dipped Drumstick cones yet because I’m pretty sure the scales might tip in their favor. We are big fans of chocolate-covered pretzels in this house. Well, not Scarlette, but that’s just because she can’t chew anything. She’s got, like, four teeth.
I’m looking forward to our family summertime backyard barbeques, with the kiddos playing in the sprinkler, sweet tea and Drumstick cones for dessert.

Oh, sitting on my “new” vintage metal glider on my porch is my absolute favorite way to wile away the Summer days. I love to take my coffee to the glider in the early morning and watch the world wake up. My two Pomeranians will sit in the glider with me with their eyes half open (or closed, depending on how you look at it), wanting so much to sleep, but afraid they’re going to miss an actual reason to bark instead of inventing reasons.

Favorite summer passtime?? Finding water & getting wet all day! A swim hole, fountain downtown, & our local water park! Can’t wait to try the new drumstick flavors!!

One of my favorite summer activities with my family is hanging out at our neighborhood pool. And ice cream – specifically drumsticks are always involved during adult swim!
Summer always means more time to read!!! As a kid, I would love to sit by the pool with a good book. Now that I am working as a teacher, summer means time for me to read and not feel guilty about things I am neglecting!! Looking forward to checking out a few that you have recommended too!
Living in MN our favorite activity is heading to the lake on summer days and nights. I’ve never been a HUGE fan of regular drumsticks although the rest of my family LOVES them. I DO love caramel though and crunch. That just might win me over!

Favorite summer activity? Watching fireflies from our screened in porch. We have TONS of mosquitoes so the screened in porch is the place to be. It will only become more perfect when I can find the Pretzel Dipped Drumsticks! Yum.

We love running through the sprinklers and then eating lots of popsicles. Yeah, fun, easy, and repeatable. Love the lazy hot days without much planned out. Much needed break from the hectic school/sport days. And I love being able to take my medically fragile baby outside to enjoy the fresh air.
I love the cookouts, swimming parties and birthday celebrations we have over the summer. My husband and I work so much that we have very little family time. Vacations seem like a whirlwind if we even get to go, but these little Sunday afternoons together with extended family are always so relaxing – like a mini vacation! Heading to the beach is definitely a must for summer in Southern California. But actually, one of my favorite things about summer is the free evening events that are held! Right by my apartment during the summer, every Monday night you can bring a chair and watch free movies projected on the side of this huge building. It’s cheap, you get to enjoy the warm summer evening, and it’s a big community thing. Along those lines, I love checking out the free concerts in the park every summer. One of my favorite local bands (The Fenians – great Irish band) performs there every year.

My favorite summer activity is playing in the water — any water. I love to play in the yard in the sprinkler and, now that I have kiddos, I can justify doing so again — at least without looking silly
. I also love to go to the swimming pool. And, we have an awesome Aquatics Center where I live, complete with a huge kid’s play area, kid’s and grown-up slides, and water basketball center, and a “lazy river” with a current that just floats you around (on tubes if you can snag one). It’s a great place to hang out and I love spending summer afternoons there.

It used to be working in the local theatre (not cinema, live action play

We always had drumsticks growing up because they are my dad’s favorite. and to this day, he still always has them in his freezer.

oooh, Drumsticks conger up memories of childhood … but my most recent Drumstick was on Mother’s Day … my niece hosted this year. After our family picnic of burgers and dawgs, with the appropriate trimmings of macaroni salad, potato salad, chips and the works … dessert was Drumsticks!! A great surprise!! Everyone was tickled with that! Can’t beat it for a terrific treat!

Our favorite summer activity is going boating and tubing with the family. Of course, we have to do a couple of trip to the amusement parks too!
Spending time at the lake is the most fun but also the most time consuming. When we are pressed for time the outdoor grill gets a workout.

I love to get Chipotle and take it to the local wetlands park for lunch or dinner with my hubby! So fun to eat by the water and listen to the frogs and swallows!!! Gorgeous sunsets there too!

My favorite summer activity is swimming. My daughter and I always manage to find our way to a pool during the summer and we rarely leave it. It’s one of the only things that we both can do well, together and never get tired of.
