Tide asked me to put together an outfit that could be styled 3 different ways in homage to their 3-in-1 Tide Pods and I thought that sounded like a fun challenge until I realized that there is a reason I am not a fashion blogger and that reason is because remember how I sort of accidentally-on-purpose donated all my clothes last year? I looked in my closet and realized I am working with a very limited wardrobe here, people. And also because I look awkward in selfies.
(Click CONTINUE READING to see more about my outfits, my husband’s love affair with 3-in-1-Tide Pods and to enter to win a $100 Visa Gift Card)
This striped shirt was in my latest Stitch Fix box and I’ve been wearing it often so I figured that it was a good real-life glimpse at what I typically wear on the days I don’t just exchange my pajama pants for yoga pants. It’s easy-casual with skinny jeans and some red flats. For Inauguration Day I paired it with my red skinny jeans and silver ballet flats. I was very patriotic and also very cold, which is why I forgot that probably I should have taken off my jacket for a picture as I was running out the door. Finally, for dressy date night, I tucked it into a high-waisted skirt and slipped into some Princess Kate-esque heels. And I wore my denim jacket again because despite the fact that my husband totally hates it, I love that denim jacket and shall not be parted from it.
My husband grew up in a Tide household when it came to laundry and I suppose there is something nostalgic about it for him, because any time I try to use a coupon to switch brands he’s all “Hey! My clothes smell weird. They don’t smell like Tide!” and granted, that might have something to do with the fact that I accidentally purchased something called “Lavender Fields Scent” but still. So basically I agreed to pop in a whole new kind of clean with Tide Pods because they offered to send me the 3-in-1 Tide Pods to try out and I knew that would A) save me some money on buying detergent this month and we all know how I love a good freebie, and B) impress my husband who is very attached to his Tide detergent. Okay and also because they offered to give away a $100 Visa Gift Card to one of my readers and I was like Holla! Because one time I won a blog sweepstakes like this and it was SO EXCITING.
I was a little unsure about using the Tide Pods because of my well-documented OCD and the fact that for practically my entire life, doing laundry has involved me pouring various liquids into various compartments in the washing machine. And these you just toss in with your clothes all willy-nilly like; they’re the only 3-chamber unit dose on the market.
They are supposed to utilize the 3 different chambers to clean, brighten and fight stains so for my test load of laundry I washed the kitchen towels and Scarlette’s bibs. Because the true test of a stain-fighting detergent is seeing if it can stand up to my two-year-old at meal time. Especially because of Scarlette’s wrist issues, which mean that we are far from mastering our utensils over here and end up wearing most anything we try to get from bowl to mouth by means of a spoon. And by “we,” I do mean we because somehow that child manages to cover me in food even when I’m across the room from her.
I thought they worked great; her white bibs were definitely stain-free and super clean. Just one removes more stains than 6 caps of the liquid bargain brand. (Based on stain removal performance of one pac of Tide Pods vs. 6 doses of the leading liquid bargain brand base variant in a standard top loading machine.) (Also, why do people even make white bibs?!) Then my husband took over, because he does all his own laundry (I KNOW, RIGHT?!) and when we were folding his clothes he kept sticking his face in the warm laundry and saying “MMMMM, TIDE!” so there is that.

(P.S. Because the Tide Pods are so cute and brightly colored and could maybe look like candy to a little kid, we placed them in a clasp-lid jar on a high shelf in our laundry room just to be on the safe side. Now they look all fancy and we know that Miss S is safe from trying to eat them, unlike that time she took a bite out of my deodorant and I had to call poison control. Childproofing is important, y’all.) Pop In. Stand Out.

I have a white jacket that looks like a blazer but is actually t-shirt material, so it’s super comfy. It has some little ruffles on it, so it can really dress up a spring outfit, or it can go with jeans and a colorful tee for a casual look. Sometimes I add a cute scarf to mix it up… It is one of my favorite wardrobe pieces!
My most versatile clothing is definitely a magenta tank top- it can be worn by itself or layered, it can work for casual or dressy- I wish I would have gotten one in every color!
I love my emerald green chiffon button up blouse! I can wear it casual or dress it up a bit with accessories and a skirt!
I have a huge nam-style shirt (striped) that can double as a dress, be worn as a kind of smock with short leggings or be tucked in and look poet-shirt like.

I love a dress that I have – it’s black but made with comfy material. I can dress it up with a cardigan and pumps for work, flats for a fun day outfit, or a scarf and boots if I’m feeling trendy
Love my Black Blazer. Dress it up with a dress, or down with jeans. I
This is probably a no-brainer, but I have a cream colored V neck that is my go to for EVERYTHING. I can wear it with jeans and boots, tucked into a maxi skirt, or underneath a cute cardi.
I have a plaid button up collar that I love! It is super soft and comfy and actually snaps instead of buttons..so much quicker! I will wear I loosely open paired with jeans and casual cowboy-esque boots for casual day, button up with red skinny cords a scarf and knee high riding boots or pair it with a contrasting cardigan and slacks for work. I don’t have a twitter, but I will share on Facebook. And FYI.. I don’t leave my house without a Tidepen!
I am at that stage of pregnancy where I can only tolerate a few pieces of clothing anyways. But I do have one tunic that is lightweight and stood the test of time. I love putting it with a jacket, or leggings, or capris.
Does my new white tshirt count?!? Ok, after Christmas I got a new green belted vest-cardigan and I’m totally in love with it! It is perfect with jeans or a flowy skirt or leggings!
Oh, and I adore the Tide pods!
I thought u did a great job, very cute pairings!
I have a black 3/4 sleeve shirt that I LOVE. I wear it under short sleeve sweaters for warmth, on it’s own with a great scarf and under blazers/cardigans! It’s flattering, long enough for my torso and super comfy.

I have a pair of pale gold flats from PUMA that are super cute with capris, summer dresses or even a pair of jeans!
I have a gray sweater I take on all my vacations because it’s gray so it matches anything. I can wear it w/ yoga pants and a tank top, over a black fancier shirt with a necklace for dressier looks, or even wear it over a dress! Keeps me warm, saves room in my suitcase. Win-win.

I have a grey jersey dress that is so versatile. I can wear it over tights and with heals if I want to dress it up. I can pair it with flip flops or flats if I want to run errands!
I live in white or black basic tanks. i can wear them alone in the summer, dress them up with a fancy cardigan, or just threw a v-neck thermal over them when i’m at home.
I have a summer dress in an ikat print (sort of a grey/blue and brown). I wear it in the summer with sandals, in the fall with a cardigan, brown leggings and flats and to church with some cute shoes and a pashmina. If it’s not versatile, it doesn’t earn real estate in my closet! (cause it’s a teeny-tiny closet…)
I have a red tank that has a layered type neck cut that I can wear by itself, or under a blazer to dress it up or under just a regular shirt with jeans.
My printed tank top can be dressed down in the summertime with shorts or dressed up for work with a cardigan and a skirt. I have also paired it with skinny jeans and a zip up for a more casual look.
I have a long black skirt that is so versatile it can be worn three ways. Its great because I can wear it with a casual top everyday, a smart blouse for a more formal look and a sparkly one for parties!

I have this pair of tanish-brownish-greyish tights. (I know, I know… everything in my closet and I choose a pair of tights.) I wear a skirt or dress everyday to work and somehow these tights are this magical color that somehow someway works with every single skirt/dress outfit I own. Not to mention I’ve worn them probably 3/5 workdays for 3 winters and they are still going strong. Not a snag in sight. And then this year GAP sold them again so I bought a back-up but probably should have bought every single pair they had. I don’t know what I will do if something ever happened to them. Did I mention they are super warm?? That fact alone is life-giving to someone like me whose teeth chatter when it drops below 75 degrees. Magic, I tell you.
I have a pair of sparkly sandals that I’ve worn for all occasions (especially while I was 9 months pregnant in the summer). With shorts, for a casual look, with a skirt or capris at work, or with a dress or jeans for a night out!
My husband is an over detergenter and used a full cup. Every. Single. Time. So these pods are perfect for our house. I have a wonderful red twill jacket that I can style up with a white blouse and black pants and silver jewelry. Or I can style it down with twill pants, a black & white striped shirt and tan twill pants. Or even more casual, a plain white t shirt, fabulous jeans and a long necklace with the open jacket.
I have a khaki jacket that I wear in many, many ways. Dressed up or wearing chucks, I love it. Thanks for the review on the Tide pods, I’ll have to try them!
I have a basic T that I will wear by itself, under a sweater, or with a shrug! Love it!

I have a black shirt that can be worn dressy with a chunky necklace, or worn casually by pushing the sleeves up, or worn on date night with a sweet necklace and a sweater.
I have a long black skirt that is so easily dressed up or down! Definitely a staple! Love your outfits! Thanks for the chance to win!
My Express jeans are perfect to wear with a jacket, a t-shirt or sweater for any occasion

I have a pair of soft, black slacks that are as comfy as sweats but look great dressed up or down.
Thanks for the contest.
