One Shirt, Three Ways (+ A $100 Visa Gift Card Giveaway)

Tide asked me to put together an outfit that could be styled 3 different ways in homage to their 3-in-1 Tide Pods and I thought that sounded like a fun challenge until I realized that there is a reason I am not a fashion blogger and that reason is because remember how I sort of accidentally-on-purpose donated all my clothes last year? I looked in my closet and realized I am working with a very limited wardrobe here, people. And also because I look awkward in selfies.

California Wine Club | $50 Gift Card Giveaway

california wine club
For Christmas this year the wine lovers on my list are getting a month’s membership to California Wine Club. When I was approached with the opportunity to work with them, I was all YES PLEASE because A) I love wine and B) I knew I would be gifting wine to some wine aficionados and since I don’t actually know the anything about good wines I figured this would be a good education for me. The wines come with a little magazine that tell all about the winery, the wines themselves and ideas of food to pair them with.

If you love wine or if you’d like to gift some wine this holiday season, then click keep reading to enter to win a $50 gift card to California Wine Club!

I was able to sample a few bottles of wine from them (this is what I like to call “a great perk”) and really loved the 2009 Daniel Gehrs Merlot. I probably should have guessed that I would because my bottle declared it a “double gold medal winner” a “gold medal winner” and a “silver medal winner.” So basically it is like the Michael Phelps of wines.

California Wine Club (www.cawineclub.com) offers a few different memberships but each showcases handcrafted wines from small, family-owned vineyards. If you know someone who is really into wine, a monthly membership would be a fun gift for them, you know, not your average pair of slippers. I’ve tried three bottles over the past month (I mean, I had help y’all. When you have wine, the polite thing to do is share it with your girlfriends. Now please invite me over the next time you have wine. Or cake.) Anyhow, I liked all three bottles, although I did discover that my preference is definitely for red wine and that also, I can not uncork a bottle of wine without physically harming myself.

(I wrote another post here all about how much I liked the last wine I received from them, so if you decide to sample some those are my recommendations)

The California Wine Club is generously offering one lucky reader (excluding Utah.) a $50 Gift Card. (Please note, you must be 21+ to enter this giveaway. Sorry teenagers, but it’s the law and stuff. Also, apparently it’s a felony to ship wine to Utah. I just googled that.)

REVIEW: California Wine Club

california wine clubI’m not a heavy drinker- I don’t like beer and being allergic to citrus severely limits the mixed drinks I can have. So I typically stick to wine. And like Taylor Swift, my preference is red. That girl and I have all sorts of things in common.

I decided to try out  California Wine Club because, well, I like wine. I mean, that’s really all there is to it. I’ll be writing two posts about their wine, the second of which will include a giveaway so that one of y’all can try their wine for yourself!

The first bottle I opened was a 2009 Tempranillo. I know nothing about that, I just know that it was red and it wasn’t two buck chuck. I have no idea about things like “essence of oak” and what not. I just know that some wines taste good and some wines do not.

This wine was SO GOOD. I say was because there is no more. We had company when I opened it and between us we finished off the bottle. It got rave reviews from everyone except Jeff and that was only because he didn’t even try any.

The second wine was a 2008 Sauvignon Blanc, which is a white wine and it had a little sticker on it declaring it a Bronze Medal Winner. That sounded promising except that I had no idea what you are supposed to drink white wine with. So I googled “sauvignon blanc pairings” to get some recommendations. I’m really classy and use the internet as my sommelier.

Turns out, it recommended it with brie, which is my favorite snack. I pulled out some wheat crackers and then poured some praline mustard glaze over the brie and a glass of wine to go with it. That makes me sound really fancy until I tell you that I couldn’t find the cheese knife so I used a toddler knife instead. And while I still prefer red wine, this wine was good too.

You can visit www.cawineclub.com to learn more about them – they deliver handpicked wine to your door each month. There are several packages that you can choose from but if there is a wine lover in your life, it would make a great gift! Some wine lovers in our family will be getting a gift package for Christmas this year. They have the wines packaged really well and wrapped in festive paper. I thought it would be something fun and a nice change.

Check back in a couple of weeks for a special giveaway opportunity!

Remington 4 Series Electic Shavers (aka Stuff Jeff Likes)

This post brought to you by Remington Hair Removal. All opinions are 100% mine.

Last year for Christmas Jeff received a Remington 4 Series Rotary Shaver from my mother and he loves it. That's why I agreed to write about it, because it's something we use in our daily lives. And by "we" I do actually mean we because I use the popup trimmer to detail the sides and back of his hair. I mean, it's meant for sideburns but it totally works for that too. Have I ever mentioned that I cut Jeff's hair? Yeah. That is how we roll.

The Remington 4 Series Electric Shavers include the Foil Shaver (which has surgical steel blades and a pop-up trimmer) and the Rotary Shaver, which is the one we have. Jeff says it gives him a close, clean shave and he no longer comes out of the bathroom with tiny little bits of toilet paper stuck randomly to his face so I think he must be telling the truth. It has titanium coated blades but mostly I like that it's cordless because, well, YOU try shaving the back of someone's neck and being jerked backwards by a cord when you wander a bit to far from the wall. It's not a pleasant experience for anyone. Ask my husband.

It's easy to wash with the cleaning brush and we keep the protective cap on it so that it doesn't collect dust. Because we all know that I don't dust the bathroom nearly often enough.

So if you are looking for a man present this holiday season, this one gets a thumbs up from us. We've been using ours for nearly a year now and it tops the lists of electric shavers that we've used in the past. Check out the Black Friday ads bouncing around the internet right now to find a really great deal on it for the holidays!

Cream Cheese & Honey Nut Apple Snacks

This post brought to you by Kraft Foods. All opinions are 100% mine.

Each week I make a meal plan and I *try* to stick to it. I keep an "easy recipes" board on Pinterest for quick and easy ideas on the nights where cooking does not appeal to me. Which, granted, is most nights but you know what I mean.

Kraft has a new site called Kraft Foods Everyday Delicious where they post recipes to coordinate with their products, raning from full meals to easy lunch packing ideas. They asked me to try out a recipe from the site and I went with something quick easy, because that is totally my M.O. in the kitchen.

I liked that I could sort recipes by the type of food I wanted so I clicked on the HEALTHY option. I decided to make cream cheese and peanut dipped apple slices (recipe here) because I really, really love cream cheese and that seemed like a fun variation from my typical peanut butter apple slices.

It was good but I thought it needed a little more kick so I rummaged around my fridge and pulled out my honey-nut flavored cream cheese. I have no idea if that is healthy or not, I just know that I really love it on english muffins. So I spread that on the rest of the apple slices and then dipped them in peanuts and they were delicious.

For me the pinterest-worthy recipes were the cute shaped foods for kids (like mummy shaped sandwiches) and the drink section- I'm all about finding new smoothie recipes. And seasonal coffee recipes don't hurt either ;)
